Surfing the internet

Surfing the web means to navigate through the World Wide Web or internet, The term also has a genetic meaning of spending time on the internet.

The Internet is a worldwide free network that contains many useful tools for today’s everyday life. You can access it today form almost every electronic device, such as smart phone, pc, Mac, Xbox, PlayStation, GPS, etc.

The Net has sub networks.  The biggest sub network is the World Wide Web, made of HTML pages and hyperlinks. Other sub networks are FTP downloading, file sharing, instant messaging, P2P (peer-to-peer) and email. But all of this is complicated staff and you will learn more about it in programming.

The internet is a very useful resource of information but it’s not always right. So if you have a piece of information you’re not 100 percent sure of it you should always look at a few different sites and compare the information.

For example Wikipedia, this is one of the biggest Website for general and specific information about different things. It is not always relay able due to the fact that anyone with an account can edit the page saying what he wants. There is a very big argument around the world especially in school, arguing if Wikipedia is a relay able site. But this is a totally different story.

Going back to the point, the most famous tool for searching in the web is Google (www.google.com), and maybe the best one. It’s as simple as writing a few key point and in milliseconds you have a hand full of sites that can help you. There are many other search engines like ask (www.ask.com), yahoo (www.yahoo.com), Bing (www.bing.com), and more.

We will be talking about 3 different browsers: Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Safari.
